Lord Nelson School Description:
Lord Nelson Public School is situated in east London on Royal Crescent, a short distance from the intersection of Dundas and Clarke Road. This school serves the surrounding neighbourhood and has a student enrolment of some five hundred. Only 5 to 7% students require transportation.

The school was build in 1965 and underwent renovations in 1968 and 1972. The school is named for Lord Horatio Nelson Vice Admiral of the British Navy. The sailing career of Lord Nelson began in 1770 at the age of twelve and ended at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21st, 1805 with his death. Lord Nelson is credited with many of the successes of the British Navy during his leadership. Lord Nelson also was the recipient of several personal injuries during his long career.

The school instructs students from Junior Kindergarten to Grade eight. The school has four Quads. There are self-contained classrooms available at every grade level throughout the rest of the school. Library, Music, French and Computer facilities are available for classes to receive instruction.

Through the London School Age Program, Lord Nelson offers our families a before and after school program to ensure a quality supervision setting for our children.

The school colours are green and gold and are as important as the School Motto: Sail to Success.

Measures of Student Achievement and Success At Thames Valley:
We believe that assessment and evaluation of student achievement are integral parts of the learning process. Information gathered through assessment and evaluation helps teachers to determine students' strengths and weaknesses in their achievement of the curriculum expectations. It also serves to guide teachers in adapting curriculum and instructional approaches to students' needs and in assessing the overall effectiveness of programs and classroom practices.

A variety of methods are used to gauge student progress including: teacher observation, classroom tests, projects and other examples of student work. For more information on our school's provincial assessment results, visit the Education Quality and Accountability Office.
